Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Patrick Mabedi says he is pleased to end the campaign on a high after their 2-1 victory over Ajax Cape Town on the final day of the Absa Premiership season.
The Glamour Boys ended their 2017-18 campaign occupying third place in the league standing while booking their place in next years Caf Confederations Cup competition.
Mabedi admits that it was not an easy campaign for Amakhosi, but he insists he is happy his side ended their campaign on a high.
“It was not an easy season for us, so we all knew that we had to win our last game in Cape Town to close on a high,” Mabedi told the media.
“We wanted to finish in a respectful position,” added Mabedi, “and we also wanted to give supporters something for traveling this entire season with us.
“Yes we knew winning this match would get us into the Caf Confed Cup . It’s true, it was our mission to finish as high on the log as possible.
“After all it was a great performance from the team. We will take these three points back to Johannesburg as a good close of the season.”
Mabedi, who took over the helm from coach Steve Komphela, guided Amakhosi to one defeat and two wins during his tenure as interim coach.
