Romelu Lukaku’s 97.5 million pound return to Stamford Bridge was meant to be a fairytale, with the Belgian striker’s Scudetto-winning campaign for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan making the striker more determined than ever to succeed in the Premier League.
Unfortunately this was not the case, with Lukaku scoring just 13 goals in all competitions.
This season his return to Inter has yielded similar results, with injury hampering his season, scoring just seven goals in all competition so far.
Despite Lukaku’s drop in form, now is the perfect time for a reunion as Chelsea’s abysmal Premier League campaign continues, and the only out-and-out striker on the books is an ageing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
With 164 goal contributions in the Premier League and the addition of quality to Chelsea’s squad, it is inevitable we will witness the return of the Belgian scoring genius.
