Fulham vs Liverpool – Carabao Cup semi-final preview

Fulham will host Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Craven Cottage this evening with the hopes of qualifying for this season’s Carabao Cup final. The Reds are in the driving seat going into the second leg with a 2-1 advantage on aggregate.

Marco Silva’s side put up a great fight at Anfield. The Cottagers were ahead for the majority of the game and looked to have one foot in the final. Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones scored late in the second half to secure a comeback and give Liverpool the edge.

Liverpool’s form going into this fixture is phenomenal and are unbeaten in their last five fixtures. This run includes a dominant win over Newcastle and three away wins against Burnley, Bournemouth, and Arsenal, respectively. Both Liverpool’s offensive threat and defensive dominance have been on display, scoring 14 goals and conceding just three in this run.

Fulham’s form, on the other hand, is more underwhelming. The London side have only managed to win two of their last five games. This was an expected win over Rotherham United in the FA Cup and an impressive win against Arsenal in the Premier League. Three losses out of five is not an ideal run with their performance in a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth nearing rock bottom.

The bookies have an interesting perspective on this fixture, despite the performances of both sides in the first leg at Anfield. Betway have Liverpool as favourites with boosted odds of 1.82 for a win. Fulham have odds of 3.90 for a win at home, and the odds of a draw are the same.

Sportingbet have got very similar offers. Liverpool remain favourites, with odds of 1.85 for a win. The odds for a Fulham win are also 3.90, and the odds for a draw are the same. Hollywood Bets have significantly lower odds for both sides. The odds for a Fulham win are 2.75, with the odds for a draw the same. Shockingly, the odds for a Liverpool win are 0.85.

In their past five meetings, Liverpool have managed to win on three occasions, Fulham have won one, and they have drawn one game. The Reds have scored nine times, and Fulham have scored seven. The winner this evening will face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on February 25th, 2024.
