The Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, has officially announced betting company Betway as the new sponsor for South Africa’s top-flight football league under a three-year agreement.

The three-year sponsorship deal, valued at R900 million, was revealed during a press conference held at the PSL headquarters in Parktown on Wednesday. Consequently, the league will now be referred to as the Betway Premiership.
Betway become the fourth league sponsor in the PSL era, succeeding Multichoice, which has been the league sponsor since September 2020 following a five-year deal with the PSL which was initially set to expire in September next year.
“We now have the Betway Premiership as the sponsorship of the league. Thank you very much DStv as the Premiership sponsor,” said Dr Khoza.
When asked about the league’s prize money, Dr Khoza stated that the prize money for the winners of the new league will be announced in due course once everything has been finalised.
The 2024/25 Betway Premiership will commence on 3 August 2023, with fixtures expected to be released soon.
