Atletico Madrid have opened talks with Chelsea over the potential signing of English international Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher has been a mainstay in the Chelsea squad since his return from a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace and is now attracting serious interest from the La Liga club.
Diego Simeone’s side have been pursuing the midfielder since June and have now begun concrete talks to sign the Chelsea academy graduate.
The 24 year-old has 12 months left on his contract, drawing similar comparisons to Mason Mount’s situation at the Blues less than a year ago before his move to Manchester United.
Chelsea are looking to receive a fee of more than £30m, with a deal looking likely to be completed before the end of the window.
