Chief referee Howard Webb has shed light on Declan Rice’s controversial red card, issued by referee Chris Kavanagh during Arsenal’s draw with Brighton before the international break.
Referee Chris Kavanagh gave Rice his marching orders for two offences against Brighton and Hove Albion. The Arsenal midfielder received his first caution for a dangerous challenge, then in a second incident, Rice shoved the ball away from Brighton’s Joel Veltman, prompting the referee to issue him a second yellow card and a red card for delaying play.
