Orlando Pirates picked up yet another point from a possible six following their goalless draw to Stade d’Abidjan, while Sundowns picked up their first CAF Champions League against Casablanca.
Orlando Pirates picked up a second consecutive draw in the CAf Champions League against Stade d’Abidjan despite their dominance through the game. The Buccaneers had nearly 55% possession, with 500+ passes to d’Abidjan’s 375 all game.
Goals from Evidence Makgopa from a penalty early on in the game gave Pirates the edge till their opposition came out in the second half, giving Pirates a tough time to eventually net a goal from defender Ousmane Meite. This result moved Pirates top of Group B, leading by five points, and a point clear ahead Al Ahly.
Following their two consecutive draws, Mamelodi Sundowns came out with high spirits against Raja Casablanca as they picked a 1-0 win, their first this season.
Masandawana’s Iqraam Rayners gave his side a stellar showing on Sunday at Loftus to lift Sundowns to five points from three games.
