Watch Supersport United coach Gavin Hunt and the Soccer Africa panel discuss Jamie Carragher’s recent comments regarding the AFCON along with Mohamed Salah’s chances of therefor winning the Ballon d’Or.
Last month following Manchester City’s loss to Liverpool, English pundit and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher publicly criticised the Africa Cup of Nations as a tournament stating that the tournament holds no weight compared to European international tournaments such as the UEFA Euro or Latin America’s CONMEBOL Libertadores.
To support his claims, Carragher argued in the case of Mohamed Salah, that if the Egyptian had an average season at Liverpool but won the AFCON and was the tournaments’ MVP, Salah still wouldn’t stand a chance at winning the Balon d’or.
In comparison, Carragher followed up on his sentiments that if Kylian Mbappe had an average season with Real Madrid but won the World Cup or Euros the French international would have a much greater opportunity at winning the Ballon d’Or.
