Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela labelled his side’s 2-0 loss against Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday as an embarassment.
The Soweto giants extended their winless streak to six games in all competitions. after goals by Solomon Mathe and Enocent Mkhabela gave Dikwena the victory at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
Komphela cut a frustrated figure after the encounter and suggested that it was the worst performance that Chiefs have displayed since he has been at the helm of the club.
“When you say they nullified us, you are giving us a lot of credit,” he said in post-match comments.
“When you nullify someone you give that to someone who is trying something, we did absolutely nothing in the first half.
“It is embarrassing. I have never seen us play like that in my life. The worst first half that I have ever seen.
“It is out of disrespect that we perform like that and it’s something we would like to forget. So many people come to watch you, I don’t even think an amateur team could play like that,” he added.
The former Maritzburg united mentor also reserved special praise for Cavin Johnson’s side, who he said fully deserved the victory.
“The second half we came back a bit better, but compliments must be given to Platinum Stars. They gave us what we deserve.
“Above anything else, you have to acknowledge the opportunity given to you. When you are given the gold and black shirt, put it on with pride and honour, do something to show that you are fighting and you went down fighting.
“We are going into the next game and I hope they realise that people died and loved this team who deserve better,” he concluded.
