Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has been selected as the PSL’s Player of the month awards for August and September respectively.
The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper has been in inspirational form for the Soweto giants since recovering from an infection which kept him sidelined for more than three weeks.
Khune, subsequently returned to the Chiefs starting line up and picked up three consecutive man of the match awards against Cape Town City, Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows respectively.
The Bafana number one beat off competition from Lerato Lamola from Golden Arrows, Cape Town City captain Robyn Johannes and Baroka’s Gift Motupa.
Golden Arrows, has proved to be a surprise package thus far this season with no losses in their seven allotted games and much of the praise has gone to their coach Clinton Larsen for his team’s exploits.
The Durban-born mentor was awarded the coach of the month for August and September respectively, with his team continuing their unbeaten streak as they garnered three wins and two draws during this period, with his side impressively beating Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits away from, city rivals AmaZulu and Platinum Stars, also away from home.
Larsen beat off competition from Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy and Baroka mentor, Kgoloko Thobejane.
