Cape Town City captain Robyn Johannes will be hoping his side can make their own history when they take on SuperSport United in the final of the MTN8 on Saturday, writes Dylan Appolis.
The towering defender was recently called up to the Bafana Bafana squad and put in an impressive performance during his side’s 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso in the Fifa World Cup qualifier.
Johannes believes his side have to have ‘big personalities’ and the right mindset on the day if they wish to overcome a difficult SuperSport side.
“We’re now labelled as a big club, we’re not a small club anymore, and for the club it’s amazing because when we all joined the club we knew we could create our own history, and this is part of it, two finals, two years,” Johannes said.
“We have to go all the way for sure.
“We have experienced players in the squad, its a big plus for us. We’ve got players that have been around long, so that will help us.
“We need big personalities for a match like this and make sure we go with the right attitude, and like I said, go all the way.”
The MTN8 final between Cape Town City and SuperSport United kicks off at 19:00 on Saturday.
