Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela felt that Orlando Pirates dominated proceedings during their 0-0 stalemate at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys were forced to share the spoils with the Buccaneers, and remain in fourth place in the Absa Premiership standings with 13 points, trailing third-placed Pirates by a point.
Komphela admits that the Buccaneers dominated the match, despite Amakhosi keeping their shape defensively.
“Pirates dominated because of the way they were set up, also overloading their midfield. We had to be patient and it was good to see that we kept our shape defensively,” Komphela told his club’s official website.
“Our stabilising pass, the first after having won possession of the ball, was also not good and that’s why we struggled to attack. As a result of this, Bernard Parker was left isolated up front.
“Pirates also made a few changes since their last game in mid-week against Platinum Stars. That’s why we had to adapt at half-time and we did much better in the second half.”
Kaizer Chiefs will now turn their attention to the Telkom Knockout Cup when they face AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 28 October, with kick-off at 20:15.
