Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt admits that his side cannot afford to fork out large sums of money on players like on-loan striker Amr Gamal.
The Egyptian international joined the defending Absa Premiership champions on a season-long loan from Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the beginning of the campaign.
The Wits mentor believes that his side cannot afford to sign Gamal on a permanent basis due to his huge price tag and admits that the club can only sign him as a free agent.
“We can’t buy players like that. There’s only one club in South Africa that can buy players like that, not us. We don’t buy players,” Hunt told the media.
“Our players are free. He’s a good boy and he’s played at the highest level and he has won many things.”
The Cairo Red Devils are believed to have set a staggering R10 million price tag on the striker if anyone is interested in signing him on a permanent deal.
The 26-year-old has already scored five goals and assisted a further one from 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
