Cape Town City have bolstered their squad ahead of their new year with the signing of centre-back Kwanda Mngonyama from Mamelodi Sundowns on a permanent deal.
Benni McCarthy’s side completed their second deal of the January transfer window following the release of striker Lehlohonolo Majoro, who has since joined defending PSL champions Bidvest Wits.
The 24-year-old is reportedly being earmarked as a replacement for captain Robyn Johannes, who is yet to agree to new terms with the Citizens.
City took to their official twitter account to confirm the signing of Kwanada, in addition to releasing a statement.

‘When I heard there was a chance for City to land Kwanda I was instantly excited,” McCarthy said in the statement.
‘Mngonyama is a soldier and probably one of the most promising defensive talents to come out of SA in a long time.
‘Seeing where the club is going, building for the future, this was a key acquisition for us.
‘I can’t wait to start working with the young man and get him to where he should be,’ he concluded.
