Kaizer Chiefs striker Gustavo Paez believes he can double his goal tally at the club by setting a target of scoring at least ten goals next season.
Gustavo Páez’s goal, scored in injury time, helped Kaizer Chiefs beat Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits 1-0 and power into the fourth spot on the league table.
The 27-year-old is setting an objective of scoring ten goals next season, after scoring five goals for Amakhosi this season since joining the club in January.
“Next season I want to score at least ten goals,” Paez told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
“I think that’s a realistic target, considering I scored five times in half a season.”
Paez admits that the Glamour Boys have to improve their effectiveness in attack and defence if they are to win trophies next season, following their second consecutive trophyless season.
“Kaizer Chiefs must become more effective. Not only in finishing, but also from a defensive point of view. We need to learn to be more focused,” he added.
“I am disappointed that we couldn’t win a trophy this season, but we definitely plan to win trophies next season. We had eleven draws. That’s too much.
“We should turn these draws into more wins. We have done well at home this season, not losing a single game, but we need to be more effective when playing away.”
The Soweto giants finished the 2016-17 Absa Premiership season in fourth place, having racked up 50 points from 30 matches, four points more than their previous season when they finished fifth on the table.
