Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane lauded the efforts of title-chasing Kaizer Chiefs, citing their superior defensive record in the Absa Premiership this season.
The Soweto giants continued their excellent run of form on the weekend as they beat Cape Town City 1-0 to go within four points of Sundowns.
Jingles acknowledged Chiefs’ massive strides in progress, saying that Steve Komhela’s side can challenge for the title.
‘When we drew with Chiefs, it was to manage things,’ he told the media.
‘Let them not get closer, because they’re capable of coming, they’re playing well and scoring – well, they’re not high scoring, they’re winning 1-0 every time – but they’re getting there.
‘They score one goal a match and win because they don’t concede a lot. They have the best defensive record with Maritzburg. That shows that our point at FNB Stadium was a good point.
‘We could have been very expansive and then got nothing. We managed Chiefs, we managed Cape Town City, and now we need to manage Free State Stars and stay where we are,’ he concluded.
Masadawana’s next assignment sees them face fourth-placed Free State Stars in a league encoubter on Wednesday night with kickoff set for 19:30.
