Orlando Pirates assistant coach Rulani Mokwena revealed that squad management has been key to the club’s turnaround in fortunes this season ahead of the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Soweto Giants have been on an excellent run of form which has seen them record five victories, three draws and two losses in their last ten games played in the PSL.
In a squad filled with talent, the former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach admits that he had to focus on squad management in a bid to make everybody feel apart of the team.
“Squad management is very important. When you look at what happened previously, a lot of our players didn’t have a sense of belonging,” he said at a press conference on Monday.
“We have worked to get them back to feeling like they are part of a big team.
“When you are part of the team you have a bigger sense of responsibility to the badge & to your teammates.
“And you can see it in how we play. Everybody is in the same mood & with the same momentum,” he concluded.
