Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise prefers to focus on the positives from his side’s campaign and welcomed the end of the Absa Premiership season.
Masandawana not only lost the title race to Bidvest Wits in their penultimate game of the season, but also lost to the same opposition in their MTN 8 Cup final. However, Modise, who has been used sparingly by Mosimane, reminded Sundowns of their historic achievements.
”Finally the season is over and it was a good run,” he told his official website.
”It may not have finished the way that we wanted it to end but nonetheless we finished second.
”This will at least slow down the pace of the games that we have to play. Now we can focus on the CAF Champions League games and have time prepare properly.
”Yes, it would have been great to lift the title but you cannot win everything.
”The past season was a historical one for the team and us as players individually. So if we just linger on the disappointment of not lifting the PSL title we would not be doing ourselves justice. We had a great season,” he concluded.
Sundowns face Tunisian giants Esperance on Friday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in their third Champions League fixture, having won one and drawn one thus far in their campaign.
