Kaizer Chiefs could face action from the Premier Soccer League following the crowd’s reaction to their 3-0 loss to Chippa United at the FNB Stadium.
The Chiefs faithful reacted to the embarrassing defeat by throwing a range of items onto the field and at the players. This was accompanied by chants of ‘Steve Must Go’ as the supporters called for the head of coach Steve Komphela.
The scenes at the FNB stadium come after AmaZulu were charged with contravening the safety and security manual after their fans threw objects at the officials following a defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns. It is thought that now the Naturena-based side could face a similar punishment.
PSL’s head of media, Luxolo September, told SoccerLauma that processes would have to be followed.
‘What happened there is not good for football. But we have to follow [the[ process: get match commissioner report, pass it to prosecutor and he must make an independent decision,’ said September.
