The Premier Soccer League have charged Kaizer Chiefs with misconduct and ‘for bringing the league into disrepute’ following their 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Chippa United at the FNB Stadium.
Goals by Thabo Rakhale, Mxolisi Machupu and Edward Manqele saw The Chilli Boys inflict Chiefs’ worst domestic defeat on them since their 4-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-final in 2012.
But it was the scenes after the clash which marred Chippa’s classy display as Chiefs fans took to pelting missiles and projectiles at the coach and players following their humiliating defeat at home to Chippa United.
The PSL released a statement on Thursday publicising the action that will be taken against the Soweto giants.
“The Premier Soccer League has charged Kaizer Chiefs FC with misconduct and bringing the League into disrepute,’ the statement read.
“This is after Kaizer Chiefs supporters threw objects onto the pitch during their Absa Premiership fixture against Chippa United on 07 April 2018 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
“Kaizer Chiefs will appear before the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee on 18 April 2018 at 18h00,” the statement concluded.
