Ajax Cape Town head coach Muhsin Ertugral believes on-loan forward Fagrie Lakay is destined to make a move abroad.
The 20-year-old has impressed during his time with the Urban Warriors, having already made 14 appearances while scoring two goals and created two assists so for this season.
Ertugral will be hoping to continue working with Lakay, despite his loan deal at Ajax coming to an end when the current season reaches its conclusion.
“I have a special relationship with him,” Ertugral told KickOff.com.
“But the decision is with him because today’s players are like stock market exchange. He is very hot property, but I also can tell you that he doesn’t want to go somewhere else than working with me, because it was like with Tendai [Ndoro] as well, you have that special bond.”
The Turkish coach strongly believes that the young forward has the quality to play abroad and he insists that their is only one team in the Absa Premiership that will attract him.
“He is such a big talent and if he can stay another season with me at Ajax, I think he is done in South Africa. Overseas – I think he has a chance for that,” he added.
“There is only one team that can really attract him, in my opinion, as they’re playing in the Champions League and winning all the titles, I think that’s the other team that will go for him. I don’t need to tell you who, you know better than me.
“But I would really like to work with him in future, though sometimes it’s out of our hands. But I talked to him and told him he’s not going anywhere besides with me, so hopefully he’ll stay.”
Ajax Cape Town will next welcome Baroka to Athlone Stadium when the two side’s lock horns in the Absa Premiership on 24 April, with kick-off set for 19:30.
