Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both reportedly eyeing up the signature of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat.
The Zimbabwe internatrional is expected to leave the Brazilians as a free agent at the end of the current campaign having decided not to extend his contract with the Tshwane giants.
The Amakhosi and the Buccanners will have to fight off competition from another of other clubs. Bidvest Wits are also in the race, while there has also been interest from Europe with links to Qarabag of Azerbaijan and Swedish side Djurgadens.
Billiat’s agent Michael Ngobeni has calmed transfer talks saying that the 27-year-old wants to remain focused on his last games as a Sundowns player.
‘Everyone wants him and the whole world knows he’s going to be free [on June 30], everyone has to wait until he finishes the season,’ Ngobeni told Sunday World.
The M-Sport Management director confirmed that local and foreign clubs are keen to sign Billiat but gave no indication to the players preference.
‘Khama still has a contract with the club even though he’s going to be free, so there’s no reason why we should rush,’ he concluded.
