SuperSport United striker Jeremy Brockie praised his side’s character after coming back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 with TB Mazembe in their Caf Confederations Cup Group D encounter.
The Congolese side took the lead through Ben Malango Ngita in the 21st minute, before Rainford Kalaba doubled their lead five minutes later. However, Matsatsantsa fought back through goals by Aubrey Modiba and Teboho Mokoena.
The result sees SuperSport sitting at the summit of Group D, level on five points with TP Mazembe and Horoya respectively, after three matches played.
The New Zealander insists that Matsatsantsa showed a real fighting spirit to get back to claim a draw against the defending champions Mazembe.
”Brilliant show of character to come from 2-0 down against TP… even better the boys got clapped off by the crowd!! Great shift lads!!,” Brockie said on his official Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Bradley Grobler echoed Brockie’s words and added that his side put up a brave fight to secure a point.
”Another big performance from the team today against a difficult side in a difficult place. Great point coming from 2-0 down,” Grobler said.
SuperSport United will now go head-to-head with defending champions TB Mazembe when the two sides meet for the second leg of their Caf Confederations Cup Group D encounter on Tuesday.
