Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter hopes to “enhance” his squad as they continue to prepare for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers and Cosafa Cup.
The entire squad has reported for national team duty and held their first training session in Polokwane on Sunday following their arrival in the province on Saturday.
Baxter wants his side to make good use of their exploits in the Cosafa Cup to hopefully enhance their squad ahead of the Afcon qualifiers.
“It is important to get results, but it is equally important that we get as much information as we can to move forward. We have an interesting squad and if we can prepare well I think we can do well, and hopefully after this we can enhance the squad for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers,” Baxter told Safa.net.
“The squad there will be massively different as it will reflect that we are in the process of changing the guard, but the starting eleven may not be hugely different.”
South Africa received a bye in the first round and will head start straight into the quarter-final of the competition where they will take on the winners of Group A.
Madagascar, Mozambique, Comoros and Seychelles makes up Group A, while Botswana, Angola, Mauritius and Malawi are in Group B.
The final of the Cosafa Cup will take place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium and has been scheduled for 9 June.
