Kaizer Chiefs have completed their fourth signing of the transfer window with the acquisition of former Baroka goalkeeper Virgil Vries.
This comes after the major clear-out at the club, which saw Keagan Buchanan and Tsepo Masilela headline the exodus.

In previous weeks, the Soweto giants completed the signing of sought-after Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat in addition to Andriamirado Andrianarimanana.

In recent comments made to the media, Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung revealed that a move for a backup goalkeeper was on the cards after former second-in-command Brilliant Khuzwayo signed for cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates.

Vries, who recently parted ways with Bakgaga, was previously spotted training with former PSL champions Bidvest Wits, however, he was seen with Chiefs upon the resumption of their pre-season training on Monday.

Chiefs took to their official Twitter account and also released a statement on their website to publicise details of Vries’ contract with the club.

‘After Brilliant Khuzwayo left, we wanted to get a seasoned goalkeeper to assist Itumeleng Khune,’ Motaung said.
‘We have a few talented youngsters like Bruce Bvuma and Brylon Petersen who need to work with experienced keepers. We welcome Virgil,’ he concluded.
The 29-year-old signed a three-year deal with the club and is expected to play second-fiddle to Bafana Bafana No 1 Khune.
