The Mpumalanga-born player won seven trophies in South Africa, which includes three Absa Premiership titles, Caf Champions League trophy, Caf Super Cup, a Nedbank Cup trophy and the Telkom Knockout Cup during his trophy-laden spell at Sundowns.
Tau also picked up the Footballer of the Season and Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season awards after finishing as the joint top scorer in the PSL with Rodney Ramagalela of Polokwane City with 13 goals.
The Bafana Bafana star believes that going out on loan will provide him with the much-needed experience of playing European football.

‘Going out on loan is always good to help a player develop and get better. It’s new for me to be in Europe, and I’ll get to work on myself and a few things that I need to improve,’ Tau told his new club’s official website.
‘I’m hoping to get a better understanding of the game from playing there. It’s a different approach to what we’re used to in South Africa. It’s exciting football.’
Tau says he is grateful towards Sundowns and what he has achieved at the club, but is now focused on gaining even more success in Europe while continuing his progress with the national team.

‘This move should help me play more international football. I’ll be learning a lot, which will also be good for my country.
‘Hopefully, I can make some great memories here – I love making memories and I’m so happy to be here.
‘I’m very impressed with the facilities, they’re better than what I’m used to. It’s something I expected and it’s a better place to be.’
