Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso wants his side to start the season on a positive note following their disappointing pre-season.

The Glamour Boys had a less-than-successful pre-season after suffering defeats to Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup and Mpumalanga Cultural Experience Cup respectively, despite lifting the Maize Cup trophy.
Amakhosi begin their 2018-19 Absa Premiership campaign with a mouth-watering opening fixture against defending champions Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld this Saturday.
Cardoso has made it clear that Chiefs’ poor form during pre-season will not dictate how they will perform during the new season.
‘I think we need to start to be more positive. It looks like we are a bit down in the field,’ Cardoso told KickOff.com.
‘Maybe pre-season is taking its toll but that’s what it is for. Pre-season is about building towards the season even if we lose these games, which is hard on us and the fans. The fans take it the hard way because that’s what they think we are taking into a season.
‘To the fans, we will definitely lift it. It is a setback for us again but we got Mamelodi Sundowns on the 4th [4 August] and it’s a good start for us for the season.’

Following pre-season, Cardoso believes his side will need to ‘tweak’ a few things, but wants Chiefs to play more attacking football under new coach Giovanni Solinas.
‘Games of this nature are very good for us. It shows where we stand at the moment and shows where we need to tweak. We are still playing more defensively which I think is not the type of football Chiefs need to play.’
Kaizer Chiefs against Mamelodi Sundowns kicks off at 3pm.
