The Citizens have added new faces to their roster which includes Gift Links – who joined City for a reported club record fee – Siphelele Mthembu, Riyaad Norodien, Kouassi Kouadja and Dutch goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh.
McCarthy jokingly hopes that his club is hit with a flu epidemic to make his squad selection easier ahead of their league opener.
‘I’m already having a headache and I’m praying that flu will come and hit [the squad] so that my 18 selection doesn’t become too difficult!’ McCarthy told TFGSoccerClub.
‘Now we have got enough players, we have rounded up the time nicely, we have added where it is mostly needed.
‘There are a lot of good players out there, but I am very satisfied with the players we have brought in and made the side more solid than last season.
‘If we get another lucrative one out there… but it has to be someone that is going to change the whole dynamic of the league, not just my squad, then I would say go for it,’ he concluded.
