After the moment of madness against Black Leopards Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza has apologised to the supporters of the Soweto Giants.
After facing much criticism from the media and fans, both online and in the stadium. After playing a role in his side’s opening goal in their 2-1 win over Leopards, Gabuza responded to the fans by throwing his playing jersey into the crowd before walking down the tunnel and disappearing from action.
The 31-year-old was later red-carded for his action by the match referee. He received two yellow cards, one for enticing the fans and a second for leaving the field.

‘To the supporters of Pirates, I would like to sincerely apolologise for what happened in the game against Leopards where I took off my jersey and threw it to the supporters and for walking off the field. As the players we represent the team from the dressing room and onto the field we do our best to win the game and to make the supporters happy. It’s not like we go there to make the team lose. It was my frustration that while I was playing I heard comments that I should be substituted. But I apologise profusely for what I did. What happened was not right and I’m really, really sorry and I’m repeating it again I’m very, very sorry (translated),’ said Gabuza.
