SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould has admitted that goalkeeper Ronwen Williams could play a vital role in the MTN8 final against Cape Town City, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
Williams has arguably developed into one of the country’s top goalkeepers with the reputation of being a prodigious saver of penalties.

This quality was highlighted in his performance in last season’s MTN8 final where the Bafana Bafana stopper shone in the penalty shootout, which followed the 1-1 draw at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, to win his side the cup.
He then repeated those heroics in this season’s MTN8 quarter-final as he helped to send Orlando Pirates out of the competition following another penalty shootout.
As SuperSport prepare for a repeat of last year’s final against the Citizens, Gould admitted that the club is blessed to have someone of the quality of Williams who can make the difference.

‘We are blessed actually to have the calibre of Ronwen in goal behind us.
‘To me, he is truly underrated, he is a really good goalkeeper. With all that said, he does his best in training and he does his best in games so all we can do is try our best to help him keep a clean sheet.
‘But we know he is one of those trump cards that we have, taking nothing away from City’s goalkeeper, he is a good keeper, but we back our own,’ concluded Gould.
