Safa have confirmed that the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Nigeria will not be televised the national broadcaster’s platforms after negotiations reached a deadlock with SABC.
If you were hoping to tune into South Africa’s all-important qualifier against The Super Eagles via one of the SABC’s platforms, you’d have to think again after negotiations, once again were said to have reached a deadlock.
‘The SABC and Safa have reached a deadlock in their (latest) negotiations on the coverage of the home matches for Bafana Bafana Afcon qualifier matches‚’ SABC spokesperson Neo Momodu told Times Live.
Safa’s acting chief executive officer Russell Paul claimed that the two parties met last week in a bid to iron out there issues, however a compromise was never agreed on.
‘We have discussed with the SABC opportunities and possibilities of how we can work with each other on a game-by-game arrangement but still they have declined‚’ said Paul.
The two sides are set to duty at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon with kickoff set for 3pm.
In a bid to put bums-on-seats at the stadium, Safa have teamed up with Hip Hop mogul AKA who will have a pre-match performance.
Gates open at the FNB Sadtium at 11am.
Staurt Baxter’s side resume action three days after their clash against The Super Eagles when they face Paraguay on Tuesday‚ in the Nelson Mandela Challenege at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. That encounter will also not be televised live on SABC platforms.
