Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda believes his side should no long be considered as ‘giant killers’ as they are now giants themselves.

The Limpopo-based outfit made history by advance to the Telkom Knockout for the first time in the clubs history following their 1-0 victory over Bidvest Wits at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Bakgaga will now be hoping clinch their first piece of silverware when they take on Orlando Pirates in the final after the Buccaneers overcome their Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs in their respective semi-final on Saturday.

Nyirenda insists that his side are ‘giants’ themselves, having now eliminated Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns from the competition.

‘It feels great to be in the final for the first time in my life as a PSL coach. It’s something very good. We’re very excited but I think that excitement should end today so that we can start thinking about other things. Otherwise it was a great game,’ Nyirenda told SuperSport TV after the match.

‘We did what we had to do which is to manage the game after the goal. It was not easy you could see how they were rotating the ball. All that we have planned has worked. We knew that their strength was set-pieces [and] their wing play and we closed those things. So it did not work for them.

‘The things that we are doing with the boys at training are working. The boys are so disciplined at the back. They have something to prove. It is the best thing about our team. Everyone wants to prove something.

‘We’re no longer to be called giant killers but we are now giants.’
