Orlando Pirates star Vincent Pule has been handed the legendary number 10 jersey for the club’s upcoming Caf Champions League campaign.
As per Caf rules Pirates have had to change the jersey numbers to fit into the guidelines provided by the competition.
According to the Confederation of African Football rules, all continental tournaments allow a maximum of 30 registered players sporting the numbers 1-30, and without names on the jerseys.
The Buccaneers have thus had to change the squad numbers from the ones used in the Premier Soccer League competitions, and have decided to hand out the previously unused Orlando Pirates jersey numbers 10, 13 and 22.
Pule will don the number 10 jersey, made famous by legendary midfielder Jomo Sono, while the number 13 jersey, previously worn by Sasha Moleko, will be donned by Abel Mabaso.
The other changes in jersey numbers will include the players who are usually numbered higher than 30 in the season roster, and these players will now wear the numbers currently vacated by the unregistered squad players for this phase of the competition.
