Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene admits that the Brazilians will miss Themba Zwane in their Caf Champions League encounter against Al Ahly Benghazi.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane recently confirmed that the playmaker is currently nursing his way back to full fitness after picking an injury.
The 29-year-old has not travelled with the squad to Cairo for their first round clash against the Egyptian outfit.
Mweene bemoan the lost of Zwane, but admits that it give another player the opportunity to step up and showcase their talent.
‘It is a combination that has been working for us and we will miss him,’ Mweene Phakaaathi .
‘At the end of the day you have to plan and say there are injuries, there are suspensions and everything else. When the coach was planning all these things were in his head.’
However, Mosimane faces a selection headache ahead of the Champions League clash with Zwane joining the likes of Denis Onyango and Ricardo Nascimento and Rivaldo Coetzee on the sidelines.
‘We will miss him but it is now a chance for someone to raise the hand and say, ‘coach if he is not there I will do the job’ and that is where other players come in and show the coach that I have raised my hand.’
‘We will miss him but we have other good players as well,’ he concluded.
