Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has commented on Denis Onyango’s error which costed them maximum points against Polokwane City on Tuesday.
The Brazilians missed the chance to leapfrog Bidvest Wits into first place in the Absa Premiership standings following their 1-1 stalemate against Rise and Shine at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The biggest talking point of the game was Onyango’s howler on the stroke of half time which saw Polokwane equalise and proved costly to Sundowns chances of moving to the summit of tithe log.
However, Mosimane defended the Sundowns shot-stopper, who has come to their rescue on numerous occasion before, while stating that he remains the number one goalkeeper in Africa.
‘Number one in Africa made a big mistake. As much as he has saved us, he’s part of it. You have to pay for it sometimes,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘We love Denis. He has saved us, he did very well in ASEC [Mimosas], we must not forget these things.
‘These things do happen, probably someday we will also benefit.’
Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Bidvest Wits in a mouth-watering Absa Premiership clash at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday with kick off set for 6pm.
