Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
The 26-year-old returned to preseason training with Phunya Sele Sele as they prepare for the upcoming 2017-18 Absa Premiership season.
Mahlasela says he is unclear about his future, as he still has one year remaining on his current contract with Celtic, after the club decided to exercise the option to extend his stay at Siwelele.
“I have come back to Celtic for pre-season because I still have a year remaining, since the club has exercised the option of a further season,” Mahlasela told KickOff.com.
“Yes, the club has offered me a new contract, but I haven’t signed it as yet. So, for now, I don’t really know what is going to happen as I will also be guided by my father, who represents me in such matters.
“With all that said, what is also important for me is to continue playing regular football.”
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder admits that neither he nor the club has had talks with Amakhosi over a possible move to the Soweto giants.
“I personally haven’t spoken to anyone from Chiefs. My father also hasn’t told me anything to do with Chiefs. If there was anything, he would have at least informed me,” he added.
“Celtic haven’t mentioned anything to me as well, because I take it that if there is any club that wants me then they will inform Celtic since I am still their player.”
