Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu has revealed that he is feeling good as he continues his comeback from a lengthy injury ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The midfielder made his first team return from a seventh month layoff earlier this month after a serious knee injury had kept him out for a large part of the season.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man was included in Stuart Baxter’s squad which faced Libya in their Afcon group decider last month although he didn’t feature in the game, but after a couple of starts under his belt Zungu feels his confidence is growing as looks to hit top form before the continental showdown in June.

‘I feel good and my confidence is growing. When a player comes back from a big injury, like I did, everything takes time,’ Zungu told KickOff.com.
‘So, the coach gave me a few minutes against Saint Etienne and Dijon, and then I started the last game, so I’m growing in confidence and I’m much fitter.
‘I gained a little bit of weight while I was out injured, but now I’m fit, and I feel good again,’ he concluded.
Bafana were drawn in a tough group alongside the likes of the Ivory Coast, Morocco and Namibia and will certainly need a fit firing Zungu in order to help them progress beyond the group stages.
