Kaizer Chiefs have announced that they have parted ways with Namibia goalkeeper Virgil Vries with immediate effect.
The 28-year-old still had two-years remaining on his contract at Amakhosi, but given his poor form for the club this season, Chiefs opted to release the shot-stopper as they begin their preparations for next season.
Vries became the fourth player to part ways with Chiefs in a week after Amakhosi released the likes of Hendrick Ekstein, Gustavo Paez and Khotso Malope.
The former Baroka goalkeeper leaves the club having made eight appearances across all competitions, while conceding six goals and picking up four clean sheets in the process.
The Namibian international went on to thank Chiefs for given him the opportunity to don the famous Black and Gold of Amakhosi. ‘It’s been a pleasure and a great experience to don the Kaizer Chiefs jersey. I thank everyone for their support during my stay at the club.’
