Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane revealed that he is looking for players that can help his side win the Caf Champions League.
The Brazilians were eliminated from the continental tournament at the semi-final stages following their 2-1 aggregate defeat to Wydad Casablanca in the two-legged fixture.
However, Sundowns managed to successfully defend their Absa Premiership title after beating Orlando Pirates to claim their record ninth league title during the 2018-18 season.
Mosimane, who was recently named Coach of the Season at the PSL awards, wants to bolster his squad for the 2019-20 campaign as they will be contending for silverware on a domestic and continental front.
‘I’ve never any team that’s say ‘no, we don’t want any player’. Ask Pep Guardiola at Man City if he wants a player. Ask Valverde who won the league with Barcelona, with so many players, if he wants to strengthen. We all want to strengthen,’ Mosimane said at the PSL awards on Sunday.
‘It’s always important because we play a different kind of competition. The competition we play, the Champions League, does not require the same kind of quality and personnel as the Absa Premiership. The Champions League is something else.
‘You must sign players that will help you win the Premier League. You’ve got players who won the Premier League, so we need a player that will take you to the final and win the Champions League. That’s what Sundowns needs now. This team is strong enough to win the [domestic] league, but we need to top it up a little bit with a few players.’
