According to reports Kaizer Chiefs have placed former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Leonardo Castro on the club’s transfer list as they look to refresh their squad ahead of the new season.
Amakhosi have already released a number of players from their contracts at the club with Hendrick Ekstein, Ryan Moon, Bhongolethu Jayiya, Virgil Vries, Khotso Malope and Gustavo Paez all having departed Naturena on a free in recent weeks.
Chiefs, who endured a disastrous 2018/19 campaign, are looking to overhaul their squad and it now appears as if the Colombian could name one of the big-name casualties.
According to Soccer Laduma, the striker was called in for a meeting with the club hierarchy earlier this week where they informed him of their intention to let him go.
Amakhosi Family, we want you to know that we are listening to you and continuously show the Chairman and our officials your messages. This feedback is not falling on deaf ears. We hear you. #Amakhosi4Life pic.twitter.com/VmONZMwb8m

Much was expected this season from Castro as Chiefs hoped he would benefit from the arrival of Khama Billiat, but he rather endured a tough season where he struggled for game time especially after the arrival of Ernst Middendorp
Castro though is contracted to the club until 2020 and it will thus be difficult for the Glamour Boys to force him out should they not find a suitable buyer.
With lots of movements expected at Naturena in the off season, Castro’s future for the moment is up in the air.
