Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of a former Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris after he was released by the Urban Warriors.
The 25-year-old has now become the Citizens second signing behind former Ajax teammate Abbubaker Mobara after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
The Cape Town-born striker spent the last six seasons with crosstown rivals Ajax since gaining promotion to their senior team back in 2013, in which he racked up 108 appearances across all competitions while scoring 16 goals and assisting a further seven.
Morris is now set to go up against the likes of Kermit Erasmus and Siphelele Mthembu for a starting berth in Benni McCarthy’s squad for the upcoming season.
Cape Town City released the following statement on the capture of Morris, which reads:
‘Cape Town City is delighted to announce the signing of 25-year-old South African striker Tashreeq Morris from NFD side Ajax. Morris signs a three-year deal with the club, bolstering the strikeforce with Mthembu and Erasmus.’
