Patrice Evra claims he was partially responsible for Brandon Williams’ emergence into the Manchester United first team.

Evra made 273 appearances for Manchester United, winning no less than five Premier League titles and a Champions League to boot.

The 38-year-old has since been doing his coaching badges as he plots a career in football management.

The Frenchman explains that it was whilst earning his qualifications at United’s training ground that he spotted Williams.

“I’m doing my coaching badges at Manchester United, I go like two weeks per month to do my course, and someone sent me a video about Brandon,” Evra told the COPA90 YouTube channel.

“I was watching it and was like ‘wow, he has got something I really love’.”

Evra revealed how he even visited youth training sessions in his spare time to watch the 19-year-old up close.

“I went to training and actually he was with the U21s, and they made me do a session as well with the U21s,” Evra added.

“So, I saw him, and he was tough, and after the training session I went with the first-team and I saw Ole. I said “Ole, do you know about that kid Brandon Williams?” “Yeah, they say he is good”.

“I said “trust me Ole, since I left I can see he can play he can play at left-back.” I said please give him a chance.”

Since Evra’s apparent intervention, Williams has featured 11 times for Manchester United, with plenty of the season left to play.

The young Englishman has scored 1 goal already and has picked up five yellow cards.
