SuperSport United have strongly insisted that the club is not for sale as reports suggest that the club’s owners in MultiChoice are set to become the new title sponsor of the PSL.

With the PSL set to host a media conference on Thursday afternoon, it is widely expected that DStv/MultiChoice will be named as the league’s new lead sponsor.

As the news began to filter down rumours began that SuperSport could sell off SSU as a result.

We have been made aware of the rumours and speculation regarding the potential sale of the club.

However, the Tshwane giants have moved swiftly to refute this in the following statement on Wednesday evening:

“We have been made aware of the rumours and speculation regarding the potential sale of the club,” a club statement read.

“These are untrue. We can categorically state that there have been no such approaches and, more importantly, the club is not up for sale.”

After the sale of Bidvest Wits and Highlands Park the rumours didn’t surprise anyone in the league considering the new potential sponsorship deal. However, the club look set to remain a key part of the league no matter what happens in the sponsorship deal.
