Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo says his side have prepared mentally for their busy fixture schedule once the Fifa international break concludes.
Following the conclusion of the international break, Sundowns will return top action with a clash against Congolese outfit AS Maniema Union in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.
The Brazilians will then turn their attention to the much-anticipated MTN8 final where they will take on Cape Town City on Saturday, 30 October.
Domingo says he is realising the chance to play his part in helping Sundowns’ pursuit of silverware as they prepare for the Caf Champions League and MTN8 final later this month.
“We are preparing mentally for this [upcoming] period as we know it won’t be easy. The nice thing is that we have depth in the squad. We have lots of quality. So we will be prepared for the hectic schedule,” Domingo told his club’s official website.
Domingo welcomes the international break as it will give him much-needed time to rest and recover from the busy football schedule.
“During international breaks, I like to put my feet up and relax and spend some quality time with my wife. I maintain my fitness during this time as well,” he said.
Ahead of the upcoming Caf Champions League, Domingo has stressed the importance of having both the men’s and women’s teams representing the club and country in the continental competition.
“It’s huge to have both teams in the Champions League, it just sets the tone for the type of club we have. We strive for greatness not only locally but internationally,” Domingo added.
