Al Ahly have been dealt a major blow after Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau picked up an anterior muscle injury ahead of the 2021 Fifa Club World Cup finals.

The South African international suffered an anterior muscle injury during Ahly’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Smouha in the Egyptian League Cup over the weekend.

This comes as a major blow to Pitso Mosimane as his side are gearing up for the 2022 Fifa Club World Cup which gets underway next weekend.

Al Ahly are set to face Mexico outfit Monterrey in their knockout clash on Saturday evening at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Egyptian giants have since released a statement confirming Percy Tau’s injury, which reads as follows:

Osama Moustafa, the youth team’s doctor, stated that Percy Tau, Al Ahly forward, suffered an anterior muscle injury.

Moustafa added that Tau will be sidelined for four weeks and he will perform a rehabilitation program to fully recover from his injury.
