Former AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has seemingly poured cold water on rumours linking him to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Cape Town City coach was back in the country attending a Heineken event after spending time in Europe to sharpen his skills after leaving his role with Ushutu.
Since his departure from AmaZulu, the coach has been linked with the head coach job at both Soweto giants, but he insists rumours can’t be taken seriously.
“At the moment, I am just sharpening my craft. I am doing a lot of online and visits for my license, because every three years you have to refresh your Pro License. So, that’s what I am doing. I have a course next week in Wales. It’s good and it will give me an opportunity to listen to how the game is evolving every year. Now that I am in the UK, I am on the doorstep of where everything is happening, For my next challenge that comes up, I am ready for it. I have gained the experience, I have done my due dilligence. I am ready to tackle my next challenge, whether it’s local or international,” McCarthy told media.
“Last time I checked, Arthur Zwane was in charge [at Kaizer Chiefs] and he is doing a great job. Young coach, why not? That job is not vacant because it’s occupied by Arthur Zwane and he is doing an incredible job. Well done to him, he deserves the opportunity. I wish Arthur the best for the remaining matches in the league. I also wish my former club Pirates well. Me being linked to both clubs, it’s just a rumour. Don’t take anything serious about rumours.
“It’s always nice when your name is in there because you know that you are on the right path. It means you are doing something right. I will continue to strive for success until one day I am at the perfect club, with the perfect management that wants the same things as I want.”
