Orlando Pirates will kickstart their 2022-23 campaign in a clash with Soweto rivals Swallows FC for their opening DStv Premiership fixture of the new season.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has already issued the provisional list of fixtures for the upcoming campaign, scheduled to get under way on the first weekend of August.
The first of the match-ps take place on Friday, 5 August, but Pirates are among the early starts the following day when they welcome Swallows to the Orlando Stadium in another exciting instalment of the Original Derby, which kicks off at 3pm.
Pirates will then travel to the Danie Craven Stadium the following Wednesday when they face Stellenbosch FC before welcoming Chippa United to the Orlando Stadium in their third league fixture of the season.
The rest of Pirates’ fixtures in August will have them taking on Royal AM and SuperSport United before they host Marumo Gallants in Soweto on Wednesday, 24 August, with the last weekend of the opening month set aside for the MTN8 quarter-finals.
In the month that follows, there will be some mouthwatering fixtures, which include the first instalment of the Soweto derby against fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on 29 October before the league is halted by the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar two weeks later.
Pirates will resume their campaign on Friday, 30 December, with the Nedbank Cup Cup scheduled to kick off in February 2023, before the season draws to a close on 28 May 2023.
