Moises Caicedo has been a standout player in the Premier League this season, leading Brighton and Hove Albion’s midfield in their push for European football.
Brighton scouted Caicedo extensively as a teenager and paid Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle five million Euros to secure his signature. Manchester United scouts were very insistent on bringing Caicedo to Manchester, but those at the top felt he was not worth the fee, giving Brighton the go-ahead.
The 21-year-old midfielder shows an incredible maturity for his age. Industrious, energetic, powerful and composed, Caicedo is great defensively, never shying away from a physical challenge, he is more than capable of doing the dirty work in midfield to clean up opposition attacks. Together with his defensive abilities, the young Ecuadorian has an incredible passing range which has been central to Brighton’s success so far this season.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have all shown long term interest in the central midfielder going back to the previous transfer window last August. Brighton are under no pressure to sell one of their biggest assets, setting his price at 75 million pounds.
Brighton have conceded that Caicedo will leave at the end of this season and believe this price tag will put off those circling until July, but the quality of this star may be enough to justify such a high fee as the youngster will be a part of a midfield spine for years to come.
Will Moises stay put till the end of the season? Or will one of the big boys meet his 75 million pound price tag?
