Jamal Musiala – Bayern’s bright future

Jamal Musiala is one of the brightest prospects in world football, showing fans around the globe his exceptional talent since joining Bayern Munich. Musiala was signed by Bayern for €200 000 from Chelsea’s academy in 2019.

In 2020, he became the youngest player to ever play in the Bundesliga for Bayern, aged just 17 years and 115 days old against SC Freiburg. In the same season he was a member of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League.

Just two months after making his Bundesliga debut, Musiala scored his first goal in the league in Bayern’s 8-0 victory over fellow German giants Schalke.

The young attacking midfielder played for England at youth level, teaming up with another of the world and Bundesliga’s rising stars Jude Bellingham, but the player born in Stuttgart chose to represent his home nation Germany in 2021.

Musiala is an exceptional dribbler, with an ability to glide past defenders and create space for his fellow attackers. He is incredible in close quarters with Germany and Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus likening his talent to Lionel Messi, although it is way too early to be making those comparisons, it shows the level of quality Musiala showcases.

Musiala was Germany’s standout player at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar despite their shocking group stage exit, his performances were a shining light for the Germans. He was also the first teenager to play at a World Cup for Germany since 1958.

The young attacking midfielder has evolved from a promising talent to one of Bayern Munich’s best players. He has registered 28 goals and 17 assists in 104 appearances for Bayern, a contribution that is quite spectacular for a player who is only set to turn 20 at the end of February. This shows the level of maturity and quality Musiala possesses.
