Watch: Why your club should not sign Neymar

Neymar Jr failed to meet expectations placed upon him when he became the most expensive player in football history with his 220-million-euro transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. He is now set to leave the Parisians after nearly six years in the capital, but where will he go?

Realistically, Neymar is now on the wrong side of 30, has an injury record that has seen him miss over 100 games for PSG, and with his wages that exceed 500-thousand Euros a week, it would take serious restructuring to fit the playmaker into any team – even Manchester City – for a relatively short-term project.

Neymar has struggled to reach the heights of his days at Barcelona playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. This could be down to injuries, the overall mismanagement of PSG by the hierarchy and possibly that the game has changed and players like Neymar Jr are not as effective as they used to be.
